Let’s get started!

Neem oil decomposed

It is a vegetable oil, derived from the seeds and fruits of neem plant. It has a strong flavor and is typically yellowish in color. Its consistency generally is hard, so may need to melt it for easy application.

To do this, put the oil in a metal container, place it in a pot with water, and heat it up on the cooker until it gets liquid.

It contains substances, like azadirachtin, and nimbin. The first one repels insects, while the latter one has antifungal, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and antihistamine properties.

Neem oil also contains triglycerides of fatty acids, like omega 6 linoleic acid, monounsaturated omega 9 oleic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid.

Consider linoleic acid as one of the two essential fatty acids, which human body cannot build by itself, and we have to find it from external sources!

Oleic acid helps in reducing bad (LDL) cholesterol and increasing the good (HDL) one. Oleic acid normalizes blood pressure.

Neem oil is rich in vitamin E, which is an oxidant and stimulates the circulation of your scalp.

How to use neem oil, preparing homemade recipes

Well, you already know all these properties and benefits of neem oil. Now is the time to learn how to get an advantage of it. I will share with you three recipes, with natural ingredients, which you can quickly prepare at home.

They include both vegetable and essential oils.

Recipe # 1 Neem oil for dandruffreducing body odor with neem oil when sweating

You need 3 teaspoons neem oil, 4 teaspoons grapeseed oil, 3 teaspoons jojoba oil, 10 drops tea tree oil, 6 drops lavender oil, 4 drops bergamot oil.

Melt the neem oil, mix all ingredients, and stir well. Massage the scalp, leave it for 15 minutes, and wash with shampoo.

Use it once a week, until you feel the effect.

Recipe # 2 Neem oil for psoriasis, eczema, skin wounds, herpes, or fungus

You need 1 teaspoon neem oil, and 120 ml (4 fl oz) olive oil.

Blend the ingredients and apply the mixture to the damaged area. You can do it more than once a day if needed.

Recipe #3 Neem oil for reducing body odor

Sweating is a normal process, regulating the temperature of our body. Sweat itself is odorless, but when mixed with bacteria, living on our skin, it produces the unpleasant smell, we all know.

I will show you a way to get rid of it. Rub a few drops neem oil on areas, where you sweat more, like armpits. You can add a few drops in the liquid soap you use, as well.

The effect won’t be less sweat, but less (or lack of) unpleasant odor.

How to use neem oil even more?

Another step you can undertake is to search for neem oil on the labels of the cosmetic and sanitary products you purchase.

Due to its robust properties, you can find it in many products, like shampoos, soaps, facial and body creams, anti-cellulite creams, lotions, and hair masks.

Mixed with other natural ingredients, it will do wonders for your beauty and health.

To wrap it up

Neem oil benefits for hair and skin are no longer a secret for you! If you have to remember one thing from this text, my suggestion would be: USE NEEM OIL, AND PRODUCTS WITH NEEM OIL! The investment will pay off!

    Hi Valeria,
Thanks for writing this very interesting post.
I’ve never heard about Neem oil before and the many benefits it has are amazing.
I will definitely be looking out for this product now and trying out some ways you mention of using it.
I know that next time I’m buying toiletries I will be checking the product labels to see if they have Neem in them.
    Best wishes,
    Michael.

      Hi, Michael,

Thank you for the comment! I am happy you already know about neem oil! Checking the label of a product is a must! Just a note: The presence of neem oil in a product formula depends on the scope that this product covers. There are so many natural ingredients, which include the whole beauty and health spectrum. A professional formulation blends those components, serving best for a specific issue.

      Wish you all the best,
      Valeria

I’ve never heard of this before. So interesting, I’ve been looking at some alternative shampoos with no detergents but they are SO expense! I’ll have to give this a try first.

      Hi, Carolyn,

      Thank you for your comment!

I am glad you are now familiar with neem oil, and it’s unusual properties for skin and hair!

About the price topic you raise: yes, some natural cosmetic products are more expensive than they should be! I believe some sellers want to catch the healthy trend and price their products undeservedly high.

I am a fan of the “fair price,” or “value for money” concept. This concept doesn’t reward the product with the lowest price, but the cosmetics with properties and benefits, which makes worth using it. From that point of view, a product, full of essential oils, herbal extracts and vitamins, which bring beauty and health usually is more expensive than product, full of mineral and artificial ingredients.

All you have to do is to recognize the good natural cosmetics and which price is fair enough to pay it. I have written posts on that topic in my blog.

      Wish you all the best,
      Valeria

    Hello Valeria,

Thank you for presenting another miraculous oil, unknown until this very moment to me. I especially like the anti-inflammatory effect and the beneficial effects on the skin. I’ll tell my mother to use the neem oil mixed with coconut oil to alleviate her joint pains. It’s so good that there are only two ingredients necessary and so I think she’ll take the time making this cream.

You have presented so many wonderful oils on your website. Some products have similar benefits, and I wonder which product I shall use. What do you say as an oil-, hair- and skin-expert, shall I use a different kind of oils for my hair/skin or rather stick to one kind of oil?

Many thanks again for your cool and smooth articles!

      Hi, Pernilla,

I am happy you’ve learned about neem oil and its benefits:)

About your hesitation which ingredients and oils to use: You are right – there are so many components which nature has given us the opportunity to apply. They are like people. Some of them are similar to some extent, and each one has its nuances and specifics, which make it different and unique.

I would advise you to try different solutions and recipes and see which work well for you. Theoretically, then all might help you, but only testing them can show you how your body, skin, and hair will react.

Another approach is to use proven natural cosmetic products, as they mix many ingredients to enhance the final impact of all of them. It is not only about basic compounds, but how they are mixed.

      Take action and take care:)
