Because they include only natural products. Yes, there are downsides as well. First, you have to spend some time and efforts to prepare them and second, sometimes the ingredients for more sophisticated masks are hard to find. Following the right process might also be a problem.
That is why I will share with you simple ones that you can easily and quickly prepare at home. Let’s see
Some Common Rules For Using Homemade Hair Masks
These tips will help you get the maximum effect from your original mask:
- Aim at preparing your mask straight before laying it on your hair. Thus, you will have the ingredients fresh and vigorous;
- Apply the mask with massage movements of your hands, or with a hairbrush;
- You could apply the mask on both dry and wet hair, depending on how do you prefer it;
- After you wash your hair with shampoo, you could additionally apply your usual balm;
- Comb your hair to assure a maximum reach of the mask and even distribution on the whole hair surface.

Most handmade masks use any of the following ingredients:
It is especially useful for dry or curly hair, making it shiny and “young.”
Mix it with lemon juice, honey or yogurt.
You get a wonderfully nourishing and moisturizing natural hair mask.
Just an additional comment here: some recipes recommend also using coconut oil instead. I prefer olive oil as the coconut one is more massive. But of course, it is a matter of choosing which one you will pick up.
The combination of lemon and honey is an excellent remedy for damaged and exhausted hair.
It is an excellent option to warm up a bit the oil before using it in the mask.
The eggs are a good choice if you have a damaged hair. The strands are build of proteins so that the eggs could improve the hair shine and mildness. They feed the roots of the strands and stimulate the growth.
The potassium recreates the dry and exhausted hair. The calcium strengthens it and plays a vital role in the full absorption of vitamin D. Vitamin A protects the strands from breaking. Vitamin B12 stimulates the growth, as well.
A typical recipe is:
Break 2 eggs with 5 tablespoons olive oil and apply on the hair.
We could also straighten out hair, using 1 egg and mayonnaise.
Usually, we want to rinse the masks with eggs with cool water, to avoid the boiling of the protein.
Honey is another handmade classic for our skin.
The natural moisturizing effect of the honey makes it ideal for the scalp, especially if we have an irritated or peeling skin.
A typical combination is jojoba oil and honey.
Later in the text, you will see a detailed recipe with these two ingredients.
Fruits, like banana, strawberry, and avocado are useful for our hair.
Avocado, olive oil, and honey
could be one appropriate mixture of moisturizing hair and a healthy scalp. A bit later you will see two more versions of a fruit mask.
